Andrew Nisbet

Andrew started fencing at secondary school in Romney Marsh at the age of 11.  After moveing to Hastings at 16 he became the club Secretary at 17.  In 1976 he took bronze at the Sussex county epee.
Andrew took a gap from Fencing whilst at college in Guildford and returned after he moved to London, fencing at The Poly Fencing Club with Jes Smith and taking another bronze at the London intermediate foil in 1982.  Andrew retired from fencing for 14 years and restarted at the age of 48 at Royal Greenwich in 2003.  He joined Blackheath in 2004 and became Secretary then Treasurer in 2006.  Andrew gradually built up the club from 12 members to 50+.
Qualified as L2 Foil coach in 2011 he started the Blackheath Musketeers in September 2011 now numbering nearly 40 between ages 7-17.
Andrew currently coaches at Blackheath and Bromley and helps out at other clubs.  Andrew ran a summer course for Futureversity for 13-19 year olds and does the occasional corporate event and fencing birthday partys. Also a journeyman armourer and helps out at London based competitions.
